Higher National Certificate in Construction

Introduction

The Higher National Certificate in Construction is perfect for ambitious individuals looking to take their skills to the next level. This course is aimed at those individuals who wish to pursue a professional career within the construction industry.

Whether you're starting out or already working in the industry, this course equips you with the technical knowledge and practical expertise needed to excel in construction. Our comprehensive curriculum, developed in collaboration with our long-term partner and awarding body London South Bank University (LSBU), offers a practical, design-focused approach to learning. Gain the qualifications, confidence, and industry insight to shape the built environment. 

This is a pathway qualification for those looking to lead on to higher level learning and qualifications. The programme will be a minimum of two years duration on a day release basis, from 9am to 5pm (day in college to be advised). Candidates will need approval and support from their employers to attend on the relevant day.

Entry requirements

· Three A levels (min grade: DDE)
· BTEC National Diploma (min: merit and two passes) 
· Access to Higher Education qualifications (min: 15 Merits and 30 Passes)
· Equivalent Level 3 Qualification (min: 64 UCAS points) including a science and/or DEC
· Applicants must hold five GCSEs A-C/grade 4 including Maths and English
· Advanced Craft Qualifications in Building Trades – Candidates with less than five years' post-qualification experience may be accepted with an approved Technician “Top-up” course and commitment to complete it.

A 2-year part time course commencing September 2025 and ending July 2027.

Exact dates: 8th September 2025 - 2nd July 2027

Work experience

Learners advised to be in employment within the construction industry for the duration of this course.
