WHAT'S ON

Freshers' Week: An opportunity to meet fellow students, learn about the support services available at UCJ and take part in some ice-breaker activities. 

Christmas Fayre: Shop at craft and gift stalls, taste deliciously baked goods or try out our pop-up salon hosted by our Hair & Beauty students.

Careers Fayre: An opportunity to network with local employers, find out more about possible careers and take part in games and competitions.

UCJ Graduation: Join us in celebrating this special occasion at the end of your studies. It's a day dedicated to recognising your hard work, dedication and success!

ACCESSIBILITY

Highlands College has eleven main buildings, which are mostly accessible to wheelchair users. The main passenger lift in University Centre and the passenger lift in Turner Building (which runs between the basement and third floor), are reserved for visitors, staff, and students with enhanced mobility requirements. 

When using the stairs, please keep to the left. For everyone’s safety, running is not allowed on the stairs or in the corridors.

Student Enrichment

University life at UCJ is about more than studying. Our enrichment programme gives students opportunities to develop new skills, gain valuable experience, meet people from across UCJ and create experiences that complement their studies. 

Enrichment isn't restricted to the island, we offer unforgettable travel experiences that bring your studies to life, open your eyes to new cultures and create lasting memories with your classmates.

Careers

We regularly bring employers and industry professionals into UCJ to meet our students and share their experiences of working in their sector.

These informal Meet & Greet events give students the chance to ask questions, learn about different career pathways, build professional networks and discover opportunities for placements, volunteering and employment.

Students can meet employers from a range of industries and begin building the professional connections that can support their future careers.

Torchbearer

UCJ Torchbearer recognises students who go above and beyond through volunteering and contributing to the UCJ community. Students can log their volunteering hours and work towards Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.

Whether supporting a College event, helping at a community project, contributing to college activities or volunteering within their course, the Torchbearer initiative gives students the opportunity to make a difference while developing valuable employability skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and organisation.

UCJ Insight

UCJ Insight is our student-led news team, giving students the opportunity to become the voice of UCJ. Students can get involved in creating stories, interviewing students and staff, reporting on events, producing digital content and sharing the achievements and experiences of the UCJ community.

It is a great opportunity to develop practical skills in journalism, communication, content creation and media while helping to showcase the wonderful things happening across UCJ.

Sports Trip

UCJ Sport students have the opportunity to take part in trips to Manchester, combining sporting experiences, educational visits and the chance to explore one of the UK's major sporting cities.

Planned activities include visits to leading sporting venues and organisations, practical sporting experiences and opportunities to experience the wider sporting industry first-hand.

This trip is subject to approval and student numbers.
