Safeguarding at Highlands

At Highlands College, safeguarding is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students, staff and visitors.

Everyone - staff, students, parents, employers and visitors - have an important role to play in safeguarding. We are committed to safeguarding both our under-18 and adult learners.

All staff operate with a mindset of "it could happen here," in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (2022).

Keeping you up-to-date

At Highlands College, we value the vital role that parents and carers play in supporting our learners. Throughout the academic year, registered parents and carers (Next of Kin/NOK) of current students will receive important updates via the NOK email address provided by their young person.

These updates include key college announcements such as information about Parent and Carer Evenings, progress reports, exam news, upcoming deadlines like UCAS applications, and much more. To stay fully informed, we recommend checking this email address regularly.

You can also opt in to receive our quarterly Parents & Carers Newsletter, which offers insights into life at Sixth Form and across the wider college community. It’s a great way to stay connected and includes important key dates to help you support your young person throughout their time at Highlands.
