New Car Park Barrier System: What You Need to Know
Why is there a new barrier system?
We are upgrading our car parks with an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system. This will improve security and make access to the car park smoother for people with permission to park onsite.
How will the car park barrier system work?
The new barrier system is designed to recognise registered vehicle number plates automatically, allowing for quick access to the car park for people with permission to park onsite.
The system records both vehicle registrations and fob usage, helping us ensure that parking facilities are being used by authorised people only. If discrepancies are identified between the registered vehicle and the fob being used, these will be reviewed.
Please note that car park access is provided to approved individuals and is intended for their use only. Access credentials, including fobs, must not be shared with others. Where it is identified that an individual has allowed an unauthorised person to access or use the car park using their credentials, car park access may be withdrawn and further action may be taken in accordance with the relevant College procedures.
My car/van isn’t registered. What do I do?
If you have not previously registered a vehicle and require access to the car park, please complete the Car Parking Access Request Form. Once your request has been approved and your vehicle details added to the system, you will be able to access the car park using the ANPR barriers.
I have an old parking permit. Do I need to do anything?
If the vehicle registration currently linked to your car park access is correct, no action is required.
What if I have changed my vehicle?
If your vehicle registration has changed, please complete the car parking access request form so we can update our records.
What if I drive more than one vehicle?
Please provide details of your main vehicle on the form and notify reception with details of your second vehicle.
What if I have a hire car, courtesy car or temporary vehicle?
Staff members will be able to access the car park using your ID fob.
Students will need to buzz through to reception to request access. Reception will confirm you are a permit holder before opening the barrier for you.
Who should I contact if I have any questions?
