Highlands College Sixth Form Celebrates Excellent 2025 Results 

Highlands College is celebrating another year of success, with 97% of students passing their professional and technical qualifications at Advanced Level.  

Additionally, 89% of our Sixth Form students have already secured employment, or gained a place at university. 

Principal Jo Terry-Marchant praised students: “We are incredibly proud of our students, who have shown determination, adaptability, and resilience throughout their studies. Their achievements reflect both their hard work, and the dedication of our staff. Whether progressing to university, higher apprenticeships, or employment, our students are ready for the future. Standards continue to go up and our students have met the challenge.”

What is a Level 3 Qualification? 

A Level 3 qualification is a mid-to-advanced qualification, equivalent to A-level standard. 

Level 3 qualifications are typically studied by people aged 16–19, but available to adults too. They’re equivalent to completing education at the end of secondary school and pre-university, and are often required for entry to university or higher-level training (Level 4+). Level 3 qualifications are assessed through exams, coursework, or practical skills tests depending on the subject. 

It usually represents the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to progress to higher education or skilled employment. Examples include: 

  • A-levels 
  • T Levels 
  • BTEC Nationals 
  • NVQ Level 3 / Diploma Level 3 
  • Advanced Apprenticeships
