VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing

Who is this course for?

Are you interested in working with people to provide a full range of hairdressing services that help to make them look good?

In Level 2, you will develop your skills in areas such as: shampoo and condition, client analysis and communication, styling and finishing hair, colouring and cutting.

You will also develop your business and retail skills.

 

What are the entry requirements for the course?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D) or higher.

One of these must be in either Maths or English Language.

 

How long is this course?

 Level 2 is a one-year course.

The course starts in September and ends in June.  Running of the course is minimum number dependent.

Level 2

  • Advise & consult with clients
  • Develop & maintain your effectiveness at work
  • Shampoo, condition & treat both hair & scalp
  • Style & finish hair
  • Set & dress hair
  • Cut hair using basic techniques
  • Colour & lighten hair
  • Plait & twist hair
  • Cut men’s hair using basic techniques
  • Fulfil salon reception duties

 

What Qualification will I gain?

  • VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing

 

Will I go out on work experience?

Courses at Highlands are about preparing you for the world of work. As part of your course, you will learn how to go about presenting yourself to an employer to stand the best chance of getting the job you are looking for.

On this course, you will spend one day a week in a work placement.

 

What does this course lead on to?

Salon Manager, Senior Stylist, Colour Specialist, Award in Educating & Training, and the TAQA Assessor Qualification.

Progression from Level 2 to Level 3 Apprentiship is supported and encouraged.

 

How much will it cost?

There are no fees for this course.

Additional Information

All 6th form courses are subject to minimum enrolment numbers. Where a course does not meet the required number, it will be reluctantly cancelled for that academic year. Applicants affected will be contacted and offered a transfer to another course if a suitable one is available.

Anyone who has been out of education for longer than 6 months will be invited for interview. Following interview, the application will be referred to a review panel.
