MRes Island Studies

Introduction

The MRes Island Studies is a master's research degree in partnership with the University of Plymouth. This course is offered on a part-time only basis with the expectation that students will be in employment in their chosen area of study, recognising the importance of real-world experience in shaping the academic journey. Entry requirements

An appropriate background to honours degree level (2:1 or above) or equivalent, and at least 2:1 standard or equivalent in any undergraduate research project/dissertation course or module.

Candidates are required to submit transcripts of supporting documents such as a first degree. 

Non-UK qualifications may be crosschecked with universities. 

Relevant work experience may be taken into consideration.

Candidates are also required to demonstrate their proficiency in English (e.g. GCSE, AS-level, A-level, IB, Cambridge Proficiency Certificate Level 4-5, Oxford Higher Certificate, International Certificate Conference (ICC Stage 3 Technical)).

Course length

A 2-year part time course commencing September 2025 and ending July 2027.

Exact dates: 15th September 2025 - 2nd July 2027

Work experience

It is expected the learner will be in employment in their chosen area of research during this course.
