Introduction

The NCFE Level 1 Pathways Progression Extended Award is a one year supportive and engaging programme designed to help learners take the next step in their educational journey. This course offers a fun, diverse, and hands-on curriculum that helps students build confidence, independence, and essential employability skills, while receiving strong pastoral support throughout.

Through a combination of core studies, industry tasters, and work experience, students gain valuable insights into a range of vocational areas, including professional kitchens, workshops, and outdoor learning environments. The course is delivered in small class sizes, with experienced tutors and teaching assistants providing individual guidance to help students improve communication, develop teamwork skills, and build social confidence.

In addition to vocational learning, the programme includes dedicated English and Maths support, ensuring students are well prepared to progress onto further education, training, or employment. There are no formal entry requirements required. Each learner is considered on an individual basis.

Course length

A 1-year full time course commencing September 2025 and ending June 2026.

Exact dates: 8th September 2025 - 26th June 2026

Work experience

There is a one-week block placement during the summer term. There is also the opportunity to do part-time work experience throughout the academic year.
