Level 2 Diploma Hairdressing
Introduction
The VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing is a practical, industry-focused qualification designed for learners aged 16–18 who are enrolled in a full-time Level 2 education programme and are passionate about starting a career in hairdressing. Ideal for those who thrive in hands-on learning environments, this course provides real-world experience by requiring learners to complete assessments on paying clients within a commercial salon setting, working to professional service standards and timescales.
Throughout the course, you’ll develop essential skills in cutting, colouring, styling, and client consultation, while gaining a strong understanding of hygiene, health and safety, and customer service. This immersive training prepares you to step confidently into the workplace as a junior stylist or self-employed hairdresser.
Upon successful completion, you’ll be eligible to register as a State Registered Graduate Hairdresser (SRGH) with The Hair Council. You can progress directly into employment across a range of exciting environments, including salons, cruise ships, television and film, or mobile and freelance roles. You may also choose to further your training through an advanced apprenticeship or the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing, paving the way for senior or specialist roles in the industry.
