UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Digital Media Production

Who is this course for?

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in a range of media industries including, but not limited to: Television, Advertising, Marketing/PR, Audio Production, and Publishing.

Progression is either to degree-level study or direct to the workplace.


What are the entry requirements for the course?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or higher, one of these must be either Maths or English Language.


How long is this course?

A two-year full-time course commencing September 2022, ending June 2024.


What will I study on this course?

Students will study a wide range of media skills, including but not limited to: video production, audio production, visual effects and virtual production, marketing and branding, context and audience studies, research, photography and project management. As part of the course, students also create a personal website, which they can use to market themselves to potential employers or university admissions tutors. 

Students are encouraged to undertake live briefs for outside clients and will take part in an end of year exhibition, showcasing their best work.

You need to successfully complete and pass all units to achieve the qualification. At the end of the first year, you will have completed 8 units and you will have the opportunity to ‘step-off’ with a Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology. Should you wish to continue onto the second year, you must complete and pass another 5 units to achieve the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology.


What Qualification will I gain?

UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Digital Media Production, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels for a total of 72-168 UCAS points (depending on grades achieved).


Will I go out on work experience?

Students either take part in live client projects or undertake placements at media organisations. 


What does this course lead on to?

•      Study at degree level in media or related fields.
•      Employment within a wide range of media and communication industries.
