Who is this course for?
This course provides you with a general experience of what you need to know to work in the Health and Social Care Industry. You will go on work experience throughout the year and get to know about the kinds of jobs and careers available to you in a number of different settings. The course will help you build your self-confidence and communication skills to become successful in a demanding but highly rewarding area of work.
What are the entry requirements for the course?
Minimum five GCSEs at grades D and E (or grade 3-2) or higher.
A clean Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
How long is this course?
One year full-time course commencing September 2017

Will I go out on work experience?
Courses at Highlands are about preparing you for the world of work. As part of your course you will learn how to go about presenting yourself to an employer to stand the best chance of getting the job you are looking for.
You will spend at least one week in a work placement and work towards an employability qualification.
What does this course lead on to?
Prepares you for advanced level study. You can also progress into working in an assistant capacity in health and social care settings for example a health care assistant.
Achieving other qualifications and gaining experience as part of the Highlands Study Programme will enable you to progress to the Level Three Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or other Advanced Technical or Vocational courses that the college offers.
