Who is this course for?
This exciting two-year course is aimed at students who wish to pursue a career in sports, sport management, sport education, or the fitness or outdoor leisure sector. A foundation degree is a degree at Level 5 which includes a significant element of learning in the workplace. Students on this programme will complete 20 weeks of assessed work-based learning, giving them the opportunity to apply their learning in a real-world context and to develop that important professional network. Graduates of the programme can progress straight to employment or onto a “top up” year of study at Level 6 (Honours degree)
What are the entry requirements for the course?
2 C grades at A level, or equivalent grades from any other relevant Level 3 qualification, as well as GCSE maths and English at grade C.

2 years full-time, starting every September
What will I study on this course?
Year 1: Professional Practice, Applied Sports Coaching, Business Relationship and Customer Service Management, The Sport and Fitness Industries, Planning for Sporting Events, Business Accounting.
Year2: Psychology of Physical Activity, Marketing, Business Enterprise in Outdoor Adventure, Physical Movement in the Lives of Children, Research, Analysis and Decision-making, Macro and Micro Economics
What Qualification will I gain?
A foundation degree (FdA) in Sport and Management.
Will I go out on work experience?
The programme includes extensive periods (usually 10 weeks per year) of work-based learning in relevant areas of the sport and fitness industry.
How is the course assessed?
Assessment takes place in a variety of ways including practical assessments, coursework activities, presentations, reports and in-class tests and exams.
What does this course lead on to?
Graduates of this programme can progress onto BA (Hons) Business & Management here at UCJ; as well as “top-up” third year pathways to Plymouth University, the College of St. Mark and St. John and also Northumbria University.
How much will it cost?
2017/18 fees are £6,370 per annum.
