Who is this course for?
Intended for people working in the Hotel & Catering/Hospitality Industry who have passed a professional cookery qualification at Level 1. The level 2 Culinary skills qualification will give you a formal qualification and improve your skills for increased opportunities in a more senior role.
What are the entry requirements for the course?
A professional cookery qualification at Level 1 and employment in the Industry.
Enrolment by interview only for all Culinary Arts Day Release and Part Time Courses will be held on Wednesday 4th September 2019 between 4pm – 6pm.
Please note a minimum level of English (Entry 1) will be required otherwise an additional course must be taken at your own cost. There will be an assessment for applicants who have English as a second language on the enrolment evening.
How long is this course?
A part-time course delivered over one year.
Wednesday: 8.30am to 4.00pm. 18th September 2019 – 17th June 2020 (33 weeks)
What will I study on this course?
Safety at Work; Nutrition & Dietetics; Food Hygiene; Menu Planning; Budgeting; Costing & Control; Maintenance & Design and a range of commodities which you will prepare, cook and serve.
What Qualification will I gain?
City & Guilds Diploma in Culinary Skills Level 2 (7138-22).
How is the course assessed?
Practical skills will be assessed on a weekly basis which will include a range of skills tests on all units. Theory will be assessed by both assignments and short answer papers. Successful completion of this course requires a minimum of 95% attendance due to continuous assessment.
What does this course lead on to?
City & Guilds Certificate in General Patisserie and Confectionery Level 3 (7120).

Resits of exams £30.
