Who is this course for?

This course is designed for those who wish to obtain a qualification in Retail Skills whilst working within the industry. 

Applicants should visit the Gov.je website and apply using the online Apprenticeship application form, which can be found via this link: Trackers: the apprentice programme.

 

What are the entry requirements for the course?

Candidates must be employed within the retail sector.

 

How long is this course?

This is a 30 week programme which will be starting in September 2024. 

The course will run on Wednesdays, 9am – 12pm 

*Please be advised that the course will run on minimum number dependent*

 

What will I study on this course?

This qualification consists of 6 mandatory units: 

  • Unit 1: Understanding customer service in the retail sector
  • Unit 2: Understanding the retail selling process 
  • Unit 3: Understanding how individuals and teams contribute to the effectiveness of a retail business
  • Unit 4: Understanding how a retail business maintains health and safety on its premises
  • Unit 5: Understanding retail consumer law
  • Unit 6: Understanding how to deal with customer queries and complaints in a retail environment
    • Plus 4 optional units from the following areas: 
  • Visual Merchandising
  • Loss Prevention 
  • Effectiveness of Store Operations 
  • Customer Payments 
  • Stock Control 
  • Food Safety
  • Managing stock levels/replenishment
  • Fashion 
  • Environmental Sustainability

 

What Qualification will I gain?

City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Retail Knowledge

 

Will I go out on work experience?

Course participants will already be working within the retail industry. 

 

How is the course assessed?

Online examination.

 

What does this course lead on to?

 Level 3 Certificate in Retail Knowledge.
