The CompTIA A+ certification is the first step of your professional IT journey. It is the essential certification to get started on a career working with cutting-edge information technologies. It covers mobiles, tablets, laptops, desktops and beyond. The exam verifies an individual can troubleshoot networking and security issues within operating systems such as Apple, Android, Windows and more.
This industry recognized certification is held by over 1,000,000 IT professionals. It’s vendor neutral, which means the skills you develop here won’t be tied to a specific company or technology, keeping your IT horizons as broad as possible.
What are the entry requirements for the course?
A typical candidate should be familiar with using PCs but they are not expected to have any prior work experience in PC maintenance.
How long is this course?
Due to high demand, there are two courses on offer – Monday and Tuesday evenings 17.30 – 20.30hrs for 13 weeks, commencing Monday 10th September and Tuesday 11th September 2018 respectively.
What will I study on this course?
CompTIA A+ 220-901 covers PC hardware and peripherals, mobile device hardware, networking and troubleshooting hardware and network connectivity issues.
CompTIA A+ 220-902 covers installing and configuring operating systems including Windows, iOS, Android, Apple OS X and Linux. It also addresses security, the fundamentals of cloud computing and operational procedures.

These exams are held in our Testing Centre at Highlands College.
The dates of examinations will be organised at the start of the course.
