BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT

Who is this course for?

The Level 3 Diploma in IT is a work-related course with strong links to the local IT industry.

 

What are the entry requirements for the course?

Minimum five 5 GCSEs at grade C (grade 4) or higher, to include English or Maths  

Mature students or those with alternative qualifications/experience will be considered on an individual basis

How long is this course?

A two year full-time course commencing September 2017, ending June 2019

 

What will I study on this course?

You will complete assignments that will develop the skills and knowledge that lead to IT-related careers or higher education. 

Units studied include:

  • Communicating and working in IT
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining computer systems
  • Programming software applications
  • Website development
  • Graphic design
  • Business information systems
  • Networking technologies

You will also study towards entry-level professional certifications.

 

What Qualification will I gain?

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT

 

Will I go out on work experience?

All students taking a course at Level 2 or higher participate in work placement. Participation in the Institute of Directors’ Work Shadowing Scheme and Young Enterprise is also offered to students.

 

What does this course lead on to?

The final qualification is equivalent to 3 A’Levels, giving you the skills to either move on to university or go straight into employment.  BTEC Level 3 Diplomas are valued by employers and lead to career opportunities in business such as IT administration and support and other IT-related careers – usually in a trainee position with opportunities for progression.

 

How much will it cost?

  • £36 per year subscription fee
  • £112 per year course material fee

Students are required to bring their own laptop to participate on the course
